Approaching his second birthday my son was OBSESSED with The Wiggles. It started with the song “Rattlin Bog” which came up on a random Spotify playlist. My son was instantly obsessed, and we started exploring more and more as he seemed to love any Wiggles songs we came across. After a few months, it was clear this was a true favorite, so we introduced him to the videos on Saturday mornings. It wasn’t long before my husband and I knew all the names and my son would screech with excitement when they came on the TV.
The Wiggles had been a favorite in our household for months, and we knew this would be the most exciting birthday party theme we could possibly host for our little guy. As I started looking for inspiration and decor, I realized that this was going to be a challenge. My family is in the United States, it became clear that Wiggles Merch was pretty exclusive to Australia.
I decided not to let that stop me, I knew this was the ideal theme and had to find a way to make it wonderful- and that would mean quite a bit of DIY. Our theme: Archer is Ready 2 Wiggle.
Starting with fun and activities- my son has a July birthday, and we live where it is often in the 90’s/100’s in July, so we needed water toys and lots of them!

Because our friend’s have children of all ages we wanted to accommodate the range. We chose to rent a blue, yellow, and red water slide with a pool at the end of the slide (we wanted to stick with Wiggle’s colors) that was big enough for older children and adults. For toddlers I used a toddler water slide with small pool that I’d gotten on Amazon the year prior for a different birthday party. For the babies I used a small inflatable pirate ship pool.

I ordered some printable Wiggles characters from Etsy and had Henry the Octopus printed on a large foam board and taped poster stakes to the back to designate the big water slide as the Henry the Octopus slide.

I setup my alligator slide, and added yellow vinyl circle stickers all over the alligator‘s body. I finished it off with a floppy white hat and large red flower to turn the alligator into Dorothy the Dinosaur. I used the same set of Etsy printable characters to print a large Dorothy cutout and used poster stakes to secure the character to the lawn. This established this slide as our Dorothy the Dinosaur slide!

For the babies I used an inflatable pirate pool that is perfectly shallow for crawlers. I borrowed my lawn furniture to give the parents a place to sit with their little ones, and added an inflatable treasure chest full of inflatable swords off to the side. I printed a large print of Captain Feathersword and placed in the lawn with poster stakes to designate this area as the Captain Feathersword area.

Because it’s so hot outside in July I rented canopies to cover the porch for a shaded area to eat and for parents to rest.

To add color and theme to the canopies I used Tuftex brand professional balloons to create columns of the four Wiggles’ colors on the outer legs of the canopies. To do this I sized all balloons to 8″ using a balloon sizer. I tied together one balloon of each color (Yellow, Blue, Purple, and Red) and then twisted them onto the legs. Going up, I’d make sure they were all in the same order and twist them shifted just one balloon over per color so that they would make the swirl affect when complete.
Under the canopies I placed 4 rented tables side by side and placed a Wiggles’ colored plastic tablecloth on each.

I strung fruit cutouts across each table, a nod a the song “Fruit Salad” and created my own centerpieces.

To create the centerpieces I downloaded Wiggles character prints from Etsy and had them printed. Then I cut out two of each character. I glued the character back to back with a craft stick in between them. I then purchased some honeycomb centerpieces and cut off the decoration that came on them, and stuck my characters into the base to create centerpieces.

Next I setup an area for the gifts to be dropped off that would double as a photo area. I used two metal arch frames, a yellow cover and a blue cover. I had a custom birthday sign made on Etsy for download and then had it printed on foam board. I cut it out and attached to the arch using heavy duty magnets.

To the left I made a balloon arch of the remaining two Wiggles’ colors (Red and Purple) and attached to the arch with clamps and 260 balloons.
I had some one foot characters printed on foam board from Etsy pintables and attached them to the arch as well. For the largest print I printed two of the largest size adhesive print, stuck to a tri-fold poster board, and cut out.
To the right of the arch I made another four-color column exactly as I did the canopy legs, but these were twisted around a lampstand and I secured a Wiggles balloon from Etsy to the top.

This gift area was setup to the left of the doors, to the right of the doors I created another balloon column and setout the party favors.

The party favors were Wiggles books! Because so many of our guests were siblings, I purchased two packs of a Wiggles book set so that the siblings could each take home a different book.

I printed thank you tags from Etsy, and secured them with purple twine to the books bundling fruit themed stickers with each book. I added a custom name plate in Wiggles font as decor, which now hangs in my son’s room.

The last area of the party was the food area. I used a backdrop stand and purchased a Wiggles backdrop. To fill in the space I made a balloon arch across the whole frame in the four Wiggles’ colors and added a giant foil “2” for my son’s age.

The party was set at 10am due to the heat, so I kept the food simple with Fruit Salad, Donut Holes, and Donuts. We also had red and blue ice chests full of drinks and ice (not pictured).

I displayed the donuts on some donut displays, the rest were in color coordinated bowls. Since I couldn’t find any themed decor I used a plain yellow tablecloth, red plates, and purple napkins. I added the extra fruit cutouts from the other tables and included my son’s Dorothy the Dinosaur stuffy.

For the cake I chose a colorful and fun 2-layer cake from Walmart’s custom cake options. I placed on top a custom cake topper from Etsy. For the bottom layer I printed some characters from Etsy and had them printed and then just stuck them into the cake.

The final surprise we planned was our friend dressing up as the Tree of Wisdom! He was so fun and brought a ton of energy and laughter.

The party was so wonderful! We did wind up with Hand Food and Mouth the original day it was scheduled and had to move everything out two weeks, but ultimately we were able to host the party and everything was fantastic. The kids had a blast playing in water toys, my boy was surrounded by laughter and love and he recognized all the characters and got so excited!
I hope that this inspires your own Wiggly birthday party and helps you create magic for your little one! Happy Wiggling!!
