This October I got to throw my first ever bachelorette party! I have thrown many lingerie showers in my time, but as bachelorette parties are typically thrown by the Maid of Honor, this was my first opportunity to host a classic bachelorette. I combined the lingerie shower into the bachelorette party as requested by my little sister- AKA- our bride!
I’m particularly excited to share this one, because I got feedback from every single party-goer that this was the most fun bachelorette they’d ever been to. I was even invited to throw the bachelorette of an attendee who is engaged herself!
My sister is a shy bride. She has a small, close-knit, group of friends, she is nerdy, artsy, and very modest. She wanted a sleepover with her friends and made a guest list of around 10 girls.
I wanted to create a relaxed environment, so I rented an AirBnB (after checking their rules to ensure that hosting a party was allowed, of course) that could sleep the entire crew and used the listing photos to plan the decor.

I wanted to keep the decorations relatively cheap but bright and girly and FUN. Think early 2000’s. I also landed on influences from Princess Diaries since this would be a sleepover and I needed a loose theme to work off.

There was a small console table at the entrance of the house, so I put a “disco” runner on it, some tassel and crown balloons on it to stage it for holding all the gifts.
On the mirror I hung holographic heart garland and a glitter phrase that nods to our theme.

In the entrance I also setup a game corner. I used a yellow glitter tablecloth on the side table and raided my game closet for some of the most fitting party games for the occasion. I also hung a rose gold tinsel backdrop, male stripper hanging swirls, mylar engagement ring balloons, and (what turned out to be the star of the party) mylar shimmer silver penis balloons.

I hung more of the holographic heart garlands on the fireplace and placed 2 honeycomb diamond rings on it as well. In front of the fireplace I set up a large engagement ring pool floatie. I’ve learned that for an occasion like this (or a birthday party) blow up toys like this can make for a big debut for a small cost!

On the coffee table I placed the second disco runner and sashes for the guests. One of the activities to kick off the evening, was the bride passed these out to the guest she thought it most embodied- which made for a good easy-win laugh to start the night!

I had purchased a large pack of the rose gold tinsel curtain and used it to cover any wall decor that didn’t fit the vibe. I set up a chair for the bride that had a veil, tiara, and sash to wear during the party and it was beside this chair that I setup my homemade Bachelorette Jeopardy game board.

Bachelorette Jeopardy was one of the major activities setup for this party. I stayed up late one night with my best friend and created this board, the categories, and all the questions/answers. Click Here for the detailed post on the Bachelorette Jeopardy Game.

If you are looking to re-create this game, I have written a blog post for this board with instruction and links to all the materials. I’m even giving you all the questions and answers we came up with (as well as instructions if you want to make your own questions). Click Here for the detailed post on the Bachelorette Jeopardy Game.

Moving further into the main room was the dining table. Being an AirBnB I wanted to make extra sure the furniture was safe, so I covered it with 2 different tablecloths. The top one was a muted rainbow and plastic to accommodate the main activity displayed on it- paint (the groom) and sip!

Painting would go well with the Princess Diaries theme, while also being funny as we were painting photos of the groom. We ended up doing the paintings in the morning while we had breakfast and mimosas.

The next decoration is both a decoration and a game. Along the large entrance into the kitchen I hung a “Drop Your Panties Here” glitter garland sign.

In the invitation to the party I asked each guest to bring a pair of underwear in the bride’s size, that matches the guests personality. The bride guesses who brought each pair of underwear. Each time she guesses wrong, she has to wear the underwear somewhere on her body or head.

This games gives the bride a stock of new cute underwear before her wedding and makes for a funny game that is funny for the guests and just a little embarrassing for the bachelorette.

The final piece to the decor puzzle is the table with snacks, drinks, and dessert. We did also serve dinner (wings and street tacos), but we did that a little less dressy and just placed it all on the empty counters.

For the drinks I supplied cups, light up shot glasses, and supplies for basic drinks like margaritas, moscow mules, vodka cranberries, etc. and the world’s coolest napkins.

I also served Sangria because that is the bride’s all time favorite drink

It’s not shown, but I filled the popcorn containers with popcorn and different types of chips for an easy- grab snack.

And the candy bowls contained candy/gum that fit the description printed and labeled onto the bowls “suck, bite, blow”. I’ve provided a FREE PDF DOWNLOAD of these labels for you to use (below)!

For dessert I arranged cupcakes in the shape of lingerie and surrounded it with cookies from my best friend and amazing cookie artist CaseyJo_Cookies.

There were meant to be many more cookies (2 dozen in total) but I had a mishap hours before the party where my dogs got into the cookies and ate almost all of them!

All in all though I was able to salvage enough cookies (and Casey made me some last minute extra penis-only/no text cookies to save the day) to still create a very cute and plentiful dessert table.

We had other activities that did not make their debuts in the photos, but were loads of fun and some of my favorite parts of the party:
- Toilet Paper Lingerie
- Wedding Night Stories (featuring Dollar Store Candy)
- Gift Wedding Night Game
Toilet Paper Lingerie is what it sounds like. You provide each guest with a roll of toilet paper, scissors, and tape and compete in who makes the best piece article of lingerie out of the toilet paper. Bride decides the winner!
The Wedding Night Stories Game is my ALL TIME FAVORITE. To accomplish this you need about 3 pieces of paper (I just got a pack of 3 notebooks), pens, and any and every piece of individual dollar store candy you can find with a name that could be made dirty or be used in a dirty story (by literally any stretch of the imagination). Examples: Salted Nut Roll, Blow Pop, Red Hots, Goodies, etc. You want to get one of each and every one you find (I usually end up with around 30 individual pieces of candy. For the game you divide into teams of 2-4 and put all the candy in a bag. Have each group grab an even number of candy blindly (without pre-reading). Each team then writes the story of the wedding night but they have to use the name of each and every candy in the story. The bride then gets to read the stories out loud to the group. This is seriously the funniest game and gets people laughing so hard they can’t breathe, both when writing and when listening.
The final activity is always a surprise. While the lingerie gifts are being opened, one of the hosts writes down everything the bride says. The bride typically thinks the host is keeping a log for thank you notes, but she is really capturing responses and comments about gifts that are innocent until the gift opening is complete and they are read aloud in the context of “these are the things (bride) is going to say in bed to (groom) on their wedding night”. Suddenly the awkward thank yous, comments on how cute something is, or color even, become a point of laughter for the whole group!
